ABU DHABI: Pakistan have strengthened their grip on the third and final test match of this thrilling series, courtesy to Azhar Ali’s brilliant ton over Kiwis. Asad Shafiq has also chipped in a fifty as Pakistan currently stands at 224/3 at lunch.
Azhar Ali notched a brilliant hundred to guide Pakistan to 224/3 at the first lunch session on the third day of the final test. Whereas, Asad Shafiq is unbeaten on 55.
At lunch, Azhar Ali stands on 111* and his partner in this outstanding 4th wicket partnership, Asad Shafiq on 55*. Trail of only 50 runs is remaining at the first lunch session today.
The partnership between both experienced Pakistani batsman, Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq stands undefeated at 139.
Although, New Zealand took the new ball as soon as it became available but bowled a bit too wide and letting the duo see it off quite comfortably.
Resuming play of the third day today at 139-3, Azhar Ali hit Trent Boult for a boundary off the first ball of the day and then hit spinner Ajaz Patel for another to enter the eighties.
With seven wickets remaining, Pakistan looks in good control eyeing the first innings total of 274 by Black Caps.
